Reasons to loose weight

Today I logged onto 43things for the first time in about 7 years. Sadly, going through my list I have only achieved 3 of my goals which is slightly worrying. That said, I'm not great with goals and some of them were pretty nebulous and some cost more money than I will likely ever have.

But on the plus side it was kind of nice to be reminded of them so I will try to remember to go on that site more often.

One of the goals was "Take care of my body", which I suppose loosing weight comes under. In my last post I mentioned that the reason for loosing weight cannot (for me at least) be out of vanity since thinner for me just means looking, well, thinner and not in anyway "better" in terms of prettiness.

So, there needs to be good reasons to loose weight that don't include conforming to the beauty standards of today (since that's not going to happen anyway) and that need to be specific. Don't they say that reasons should be specific if you want them to have an impact? Right, here we go:

  1. To save money on food - eating less costs less. No brainer
  2. To save money on clothes - fat clothes are more expensive and most of the time you don't get the quality of "normal" clothes at the same price.
  3. To reduce stress on joints. This is a big deal for me due to ouchy joints from a virus I had in my early twenties
  4. To avoid having a hip replacement. See above. I really don't want one...
  5. ...but if I do have to have one in the future I want to be healthy enough to recover well.
  6. To stop tattoos deforming due to yo-yoing weight. I don't have any yet, but one of the reasons is that I'm slightly worried I'll end up like a hall of mirrors nightmare.
  7. To be more energetic. In theory. I'm dubious about this. I've always liked my bed.
  8. To live a long life since I'm a bit of a slow poke when it comes to pretty much everything. I would quite like to live to 100 just to get my to-do list finished.
  9. To be able to say I am happy with my weight and mean it.
  10. To be generally more comfortable in a world built for thinner people. Not having bistro chairs dig into your thighs, not having to breath in to do up seatbelts on an airplane, not worrying about inappropriately cuddling up to the person sitting next to you at the theatre...
  11. To not be freaked out when seeing my back view unexpectedly in a CCTV camera in a shop...
  12. ...or in a video sneakily recorded by friends or relatives.
  13. To not have to reposition my breasts at least once an hour because they randomly migrate out of my bra.
  14. To be able to wear tall boots (again, not holding out much hope since I have rugby player's legs, but who knows).
  15. To be able to choose a haircut without wondering if it's going to make my head look tiny in comparison to my body.
  16. To have the freedom to wear any style of knickers I like, rather than just shorts or briefs.
  17. To not look like some gate-crashing umpa-lumpa in photos.
  18. To generally feel less moon/blob-like in the face. Even chipmunk teeth are better than that.
  19. To rediscover my ankles. I know they are under there somewhere.
  20. To be able to jog and not feel my wobbly bottom bouncing all over the place. It might be somebody's kink, but in actual fact it's very uncomfortable and distracting.
